He has authored seven books on various psychological topics, including
problems with attention, focus, and stress, and worry. His international bestsellers,
Driven to Distraction and Answers to Distraction
discuss Attention Deficit Disorder in children and in adults. When
You Worry About The Child You Love, describes the various emotional
and learning problems children may have and offers practical tips on how
best to deal with them. WORRY: Hope & Help For A Common Problem,
looks at worry in both its constructive and destructive forms, and gives
practical advice on how to control toxic worry. From the person who
broods and ruminates, to the underachiever who can't get going because
of his worrying, to the person who fears speaking in public, to the many
people who have undiagnosed anxiety disorders, this book describes the
host of different patterns destructive worry can take.
Dr. Hallowell has completed in 2001 CONNECT: 12 Vital ties That Open
Your Heart, Lengthen Your Life, and Deepen Your Soul (Pantheon,
September 1999). This book focuses on the power of the various
connections people make in life -- from connections of family and
friends, to neighbourhood and community, to workplaces and other organisations, to systems of belief and the world of beauty.
Dr. Hallowell has also completed two videotapes for the Public
Broadcasting System (PBS), one about managing worry, the other about the

and always better informed, if not inspired. He is a charismatic
speaker, combining the knowledge of a Harvard instructor with the easy
manner of an experienced public speaker. In addition, Dr. Hallowell
